Animal Defenders International
Twitter: @Animal Defenders Animal Defenders International (ADI), is an organization that specifically exposes issues that threaten the welfare of animals, like circus suffering and animal poaching. Thus, most of their work is done with the help of the people. Volunteering, interning, and working are the just some of the most-known ways to get involved in the mission. I figured, for my audience one of the first steps in getting involved is volunteering. Therefore, I promoted ADI's different volunteer opportunities. Additionally, I informed my audience that even if one does not have the time or transportation to get to locations, one can get involved online by helping sign petitions, sharing news and updates, and helping spread the word.

International Fund for Animal Welfare
Twitter: @action4IFAW The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) saves animals worldwide by rescuing animals, campaigning to prevent animal cruelty, and advocating for conservation. As part of promoting IFAW, I thought it would be good to inform my followers about issues and encouraging them to become active advocates. Therefore, I planned a tweet that urged my followers to contact their members of Congress to oppose the new anti-ESA (endangered species act). I believe that including a political cartoon would also call their attention and not treat this tweet as any other.

The images above present one of the best threads on presenting problems that threaten bears. This tweet specifically concerned sloth bears, which are native to India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Their population is currently between 7,000 to 10,000 and one of their main threats is poaching and captivity. I think this tweet really went in detail showing the barbaric reasons (e.g. entertainment, ornaments) for why the sloth bear population is threatened. The pictures attached to the tweets allowed for the readers to view actual instances of this scenarios.

Another of my best tweets regarding bear issues was the sharing of my infographic which provided important facts about the cruelty of bear bile farming in Asia. I think it is one of the best tweets since the infographic is an effective communication tool that besides the plain text it contains visual content which triggers more engagement within the readers.

One of my best tweets concerning solutions to the different issues that threated the bear species, was one where I pinpointed three key suggestions to better target the problems. It makes it a good tweet because they are recommendations for pretty much all my followers because they can be met by the people, institutions, and governmental law and enforcement agencies.

While most of the solutions were somewhat broad, I think one of my best tweets was one which stated a specific solution to the problem of bear bile farming. After reading The Guardian article, “Is the end of 'house of horror' bear bile factories in sight?,” I found out that the chemical in bear bile is ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) could be substituted by herbal and synthetic alternatives (artificial bear bile) which means bear bile farming is not necessary.
